Private LTE/5G networks are different from public mobile networks. In a private network, you usually want tight control: only approved devices and users can attach, and roaming is often disabled by design. That’s where custom SIM cards come in.
At HKCARD ELECTRONICS CO.,LIMITED, we provide Custom SIM cards for Private 4G/5G LTE Networks, including projects that use CableFree LTE equipment and other private-network infrastructure. We can supply SIM/USIM cards programmed to your network parameters, with optional card printing and operator branding.

ToggleWhy a private LTE/5G network needs customized SIMs
In any LTE network, the UE/CPE needs a compatible SIM/USIM to connect. For Private LTE, the SIM is more than “a card” — it’s your access control method.
A properly personalized SIM can help you:
- Allow network access only for approved devices
- Keep the network “closed” (no public roaming, no billing complexity)
- Manage users and devices by clear identifiers (IMSI, printed labels, asset tracking)
Branding and printing (front & back)
For deployments and field teams, clear labeling avoids mistakes. We can provide:
- Custom printing on front and rear (logo, network name, user instructions)
- Printing of identifiers such as IMSI or other customer-required IDs
- White cards for customers who prefer in-house labeling
What data is stored on a private-network SIM
Every private LTE/5G network has its own subscriber data set. The most common items include:
IMSI (International Mobile Subscriber Identity)
IMSI is the unique subscriber identity used by the network to identify a user/device. It is typically referenced by your core network database (HLR/HSS/AuC or 4G/5G subscriber database equivalents).
Authentication key material (Ki, OPc)
To authenticate a SIM on the network, the card must contain secret key material, typically including:
- Ki (a unique key per SIM)
- OP/OPc (used in common 3GPP authentication schemes)
These values must match what is provisioned in your network authentication database (AuC/HSS/UDM/ARPF depending on architecture).
SIM security options (algorithm choices)
Security isn’t one-size-fits-all. Depending on the network design and legacy requirements, SIM authentication may use different algorithms.
In GSM history, COMP128 variants have been used for A3/A8 functions:
- COMP128-1 (older, known weaknesses)
- COMP128-2 (stronger, but with limitations in key generation behavior)
- COMP128-3 (improved key generation behavior)
- COMP128-4 (commonly linked with 3GPP-style approaches such as Milenage, AES-based)
For modern private LTE/5G deployments, operators typically prefer 3GPP-aligned methods (for example Milenage) based on project requirements.
Privacy and roaming in private networks
Many private LTE networks are intentionally built as closed networks:
- Roaming to public networks is not supported
- Devices are expected to work only inside the customer’s own coverage area
- This simplifies policy control and avoids billing/settlement complexity
If you need roaming-enabled behavior (some hybrid projects do), tell us early—SIM profiles and network policy need to be planned together.
SIM form factors (choose what fits your device)
Functionality is mostly independent of size. What matters is what your hardware accepts.
Common options:
- 2FF (Mini SIM) — widely used in many industrial CPEs and routers
- 3FF (Micro SIM) — common in older/compact devices
- 4FF (Nano SIM) — common in modern phones and compact IoT devices
- MFF2 / eSIM (embedded) — soldered/embedded for rugged IoT products
Quick size reference:
| Form factor | Typical use | Dimensions (mm) |
|---|---|---|
| 2FF (Mini) | CPE / routers | 25.0 × 15.0 |
| 3FF (Micro) | compact devices | 15.0 × 12.0 |
| 4FF (Nano) | modern devices | 12.3 × 8.8 |
| eSIM (embedded) | IoT / M2M | ~6.0 × 5.0 (package-dependent) |
Bulk delivery and customization
For network trials and rollouts, operators typically need bulk quantities with consistent personalization and clear batch control. We support:
- SIM/USIM personalization to your subscriber plan
- Batch consistency and delivery lists (as required)
- Custom printing for operations and field handling

Quick FAQ
Q: Do private LTE SIM cards work like normal operator SIMs?
A: Not exactly. They are personalized for your private core network and often won’t roam or work on public networks.
Q: Can you print our logo and instructions on the SIM card?
A: Yes. Front/back printing and identifier printing (like IMSI) are available.
Q: What do you need from us to start personalization?
A: Network type (4G/5G), authentication requirements (Ki/OPc and algorithm), IMSI/ICCID ranges, form factor, quantity, and any roaming/privacy rules.
