ToggleHKCARD | NFC Test SIM Card, 3G 4G Nano Micro Test SIM for CMW500, CMU200, Agilent 8960 & Anritsu MT8820C
The Test SIM Card That Sits Between Your Device and Your Test Equipment — It Needs to Work Every Time
Production line testing for mobile phones is a process where small problems become expensive problems very quickly. When you are running hundreds of devices through a test bench every shift, a test SIM card that causes intermittent authentication failures, drops NFC handshakes, or behaves inconsistently across different testers does not just slow things down — it creates false rejects, wastes engineer time, and eventually makes someone question whether the problem is the phone or the card.
Most of the time, it is the card.
HKCARD ELECTRONICS CO., LIMITED manufactures NFC test SIM cards, 3G/4G/5G test SIM cards, and programmable blank SIM cards specifically for mobile phone factory testing and laboratory environments. Our cards are used daily on CMW500, CMU200, Agilent 8960, and Anritsu MT8820C test benches in factories across China, Vietnam, and other major manufacturing regions.

What a Test SIM Card Actually Does on the Factory Line
This is worth explaining clearly because it affects how you specify the card you need.
A test SIM card is not a commercial SIM card. It does not connect to any live network. The data programmed onto it — IMSI, authentication parameters, network identity — is recognized by the test equipment’s internal network simulator, not by any public mobile network. This isolation is intentional and essential.
When a mobile phone comes off the assembly line, it needs to be tested for:
- Signal reception and transmission — Rx/Tx power, sensitivity
- Voice call setup and release — CS domain functionality
- Data bearer establishment — PS domain, throughput
- NFC functionality — contactless interface and SWP protocol
- Bit error rate (BER) — receiver quality
- SMS functionality — send and receive
Each of these tests requires the phone to authenticate to a simulated network. The test SIM card provides that authentication. Without a properly configured test SIM, the phone cannot register to the test equipment’s network simulator, and none of the RF or protocol tests can proceed.
The NFC test SIM adds an additional function: it carries the SWP (Single Wire Protocol) interface that allows the test equipment to validate the phone’s NFC controller alongside its cellular radio — both tested through the same card, in the same test sequence.
Compatible Test Equipment — Detailed
Rohde & Schwarz CMW500
The CMW500 is the current benchmark for mobile device production testing. Our NFC test SIM cards are pre-configured to authenticate against the CMW500’s internal network simulation across all supported RATs.
Supported test scenarios on CMW500:
- GSM call setup and RF measurement
- WCDMA CS voice and PS data
- LTE FDD/TDD registration and data bearer
- NFC SWP interface testing

- Inter-RAT handover testing
Rohde & Schwarz CMU200
Still widely deployed in factories that handle 2G and 3G production testing, or that have not yet migrated to CMW500. Our test SIM cards work on both platforms — the same card authenticates correctly on CMU200 and CMW500 without any parameter changes.
Supported test scenarios on CMU200:

- Receiver sensitivity measurement
Agilent / Keysight 8960
The Agilent 8960 (now Keysight 8960) remains in use in many established production lines, particularly for 2G and 3G testing. HKCARD NFC test SIM cards are configured for 8960 compatibility and authenticate cleanly without modifications to the tester setup.
Anritsu MT8820C
The Anritsu MT8820C is used in both production testing and laboratory environments. Our test SIM cards support MT8820C network simulation for GSM, WCDMA, and LTE test scenarios.

SIM Card Technical Reference
For engineers specifying test SIM cards, here is the relevant technical background.
What is a SIM card (hardware perspective)?
A SIM card is an integrated circuit containing:
- CPU — processes authentication algorithms
- ROM — stores the operating system
- RAM — working memory during operation
- EEPROM — stores subscriber data and application data
- I/O circuit — communication interface with the host device
Standard form factor dimensions:
| Format | Name | Dimensions |
|---|---|---|
| 2FF | Mini SIM / Standard | 25mm × 15mm × 0.8mm |
| 3FF | Micro SIM | 12mm × 15mm × 0.76mm |
| 4FF | Nano SIM | 12.3mm × 8.8mm × 0.67mm |
Why test SIM cards cannot connect to live networks:
Test SIM cards use IMSI ranges and authentication parameters that are recognized only by test equipment operating in network simulation mode. The same card inserted into a live network will fail authentication — by design. This prevents test equipment from accidentally registering to a public network and ensures test isolation.
How NFC test SIM cards work:
The NFC function on a test SIM card operates through the SWP (Single Wire Protocol) interface — a single electrical contact on the SIM card that carries communication between the SIM and the device’s NFC controller. Test equipment that supports NFC testing — such as the CMW500 with NFC option — uses this interface to validate the complete NFC chain: from the SIM through the NFC controller to the antenna.
Capacity Options and Product Selection Guide
| Capacity | Best For |
|---|---|
| 32K | Basic GSM test, minimal data storage |
| 64K | Standard 2G/3G test SIM, general factory use |
| 128K | 4G LTE test SIM, NFC test SIM, programmable USIM |
| 256K | Multi-service programmable SIM, operator deployment |
For most CMW500 and CMU200 factory test applications, 128K is the standard choice. It provides sufficient storage for the test SIM file structure while keeping unit cost reasonable for high-volume factory use.
